It's my pleasure and my responsibility to acknowledge this doctor for his outstanding service to me, a patient of his for some 10 years now.

Background: I have a neuropsychological condition that makes it unusually hard to master the basic life skills required to perform academically, hold a job, have a social life, build relationships, manage time, regulate my emotions and so on.

Status: Somehow, I have an education, a successful career, a loving (and very tolerant) wife, and a promising future. That is a rare outcome for people like me (70% unemployment, for example), and it would not have been possible without the support and guidance of a good doctor.

Gratitude doesn't motivate as many reviews as it should. I owe a lot to Dr. Ispirescu, and I am sorry that it took me this long to say so. Thank you!

I saw Dr. Scott Ispirescu for an evaluation at the end of 2016, and it still makes me uncomfortable to think about. I hesitated to ever write a review because after I cordially ended the meeting one hour in to the 3 hour eval, his front desk offered to waive the fee. I wish I had done more research before booking an assessment with him, as at least one of his patients has previously reported inappropriate transgression of sexual boundaries by him.

For me, there was no blatant boundary crossings. Rather, there was a heightened sense of the power differential in the room and mild flirtation mixed with ineptitude at performing his job. I believe Dr. Ispirescu was under the influence of some substance or was otherwise mentally incapacitated during our time together. It felt as though he was trying very hard to hold himself together and play the part of a doctor conducting an evaluation (unconvincingly so) without actually knowing how to do it. He would stare at his computer screen and type on his own for up to four minutes at a time, never looking up or speaking to me. Then he would ask me a direct question about my sleep that required only a one word response and then return to staring at the screen and typing for another three to five minutes. I couldn't believe I was paying several thousand dollars for this.

Having a background in conducting psych evals from my own graduate studies, I asked him after 45 minutes if we might have an actual discussion, as I couldn't imagine what all he was typing when I had only been asked a few questions unrelated to my primary condition. He shrugged and said, "I thought I was doing what you wanted. I thought you wanted an evaluation." I soon learned that having him face to face in conversation mode was far more uncomfortable than the long periods of silence while he sat ineptly typing. He transformed from being robotic/borderline schizoid to becoming overly familiar, commenting on my appearance, and continuing to boggle the clinical interview.

He made me very uncomfortable and indicated that he did not know how to conduct an evaluation so I terminated it after an hour. I was willing to walk away from my several thousand dollar investment because I felt THAT UNCOMFORTABLE.
