I went in on Friday because of extreme toothache, they didn't want me to be seen by the doctor _before_ they look for my insurance file, even though I offered to pay cash first, they said it's not procedure. that's fine.
After everything is in order after 30 mins, assistant took the x-ray, doctor (I presume Vijay Pharar) came in for a total of 2 minutes, looked down on me after she heard I had filling done in other country and said she doesn't work on tooth done in other country. She also said because I came in as an emergency she can only look at one tooth nothing more.
So the doctor eventually prescribed antibiotics, and said sometimes it will heal on it's own and send me on my way.
Her attitude and didn't want to spend much time talking made me very uncomfortable, I should of trusted the feeling and see other dental professional right the way.
Over the weekend the pain got worse, I had to take other painkillers and apply severe toothache cream on top of the antibiotics to ease the pain. I made a another appointment with her on Tuesday and took Monday and Tuesday off work because of the pain.
This time I arrived 20 mins early and make sure I could "accommodate" with the staff there with the appointment. When I was seen but the assistant, right the way she said you need root canal without even check the progress of my tooth (I had to explain to the other assistant later that a swollen has been developed) said what if I want other options like extract she said it won't be covered by the insurance, that's fine. I asked to talk to the doctor, because I am a patient and wanted to have a conversation with the dentist to go over my options, since she is in the very next door to the exam room I was in.
the assistant reluctantly had me go back to the waiting room and after a few minutes came out and said the doctor stood by her decision, I said that's fine but can I still talk to the doctor, she said fine. After a few more minutes she came out and said do you need another xray, I told her I don't know what I need since I am not a dentist, she changed her words to, I am telling you, you need another xray, I said that's fine, as long as I get to talk to the doctor.
So I went in to exam room again, did another xray, we went to another room, doctor finally came in. She said you need a root canal, and it's $300 copay. I asked what other options we have (not all of us could just follow doctor's order right the way and not hesitate on spending money and go through the long process of root canal) , and if the infection could heal on its own. She said no way that's your only option. I explained I was in pain, she said and I quote "it's not possible, the antibiotics would take care of the pain."
Doctor asked "what do you want", all I wanted to do is to weight in all my options and make a decision and take care of the pain, but I was rudely interrupted by the doctor and I quote "your insurance company doesn't pay me enough to talk to you twice a week." (so that's what the real issue is). I explained I just need to have a normal conversation with the doctor and she cut me off and won't let me finish my sentence, and said I was rude on Friday and today, and she refused to listen. I said I am in pain, and indicated I just needed to be consulted (with the caring attitude of a _real_ dental professional ) and she won't listen.
If the doctor had 1 minute of _patience_ and time in the beginning of the visit, I would finish addressing my concerned and agreed with her root canal option and hopefully take care of my problem right the way. Instead she went on tilt and won't let me finish and kicked me out.
The doctor and one of her assistant's attitude is consistently rude, unprofessional and I would not recommend any one to go to this office.
