Dr. Wahedi told me I needed to do a deep cleaning procedure that my HMO health plan would not cover. He also told me I had some cavities that needed attention. I was given a $2,000.00 out of pocket estimate. I came home and reread Yelp reviews. There are some that suggested Dr. Wahedi can not be trusted. Due to the fact that I am an HMO patient I believe to be compensated he recommends unnecessary treatments. Thus was my case. My gut said to get a second opinion. I changed health plans and went with a PPO which opens up a lot of options for well qualified, honest dentists. I found Dr. Kevin Jeffers, who has a 5 star rating.
I do not need deep cleaning nor do I need cavities filled. Dr. Wahedi made me so concerned and stressed. He mentioned gum disease and said it can lead to heart disease. Perhaps that is true, but the way he presented it to me was to invoke fear. Thus, I would not hesitate to do the $2,000. plan. Worst dental experience I have ever had in my 65 years. Dr. Jeffers was kind, honest and made me feel at ease, as there is nothing to worry about.
RED FLAG. I would not recommend Design Dental Smiles nor trust this dentist.

So far I couldn’t be more impressed / pleased by the kindness and supportive staff that have taken care of me so far. You can tell they enjoy what they do in the service they provide. Not many people enjoy going to the dentist. Me included.

They were all very nice and kind but when I was given the estimate for the work I needed done, which was extensive, it was about $15,000. When I asked how much of that am I responsible for because I am 65 and older with Medicare, she said that was my out-of-pocket expense. I took the itemized bill to other Dentist and asked how much it would cost I was just walking with no insurance, and it was considerably cheaper than they were charging me with insurance. So the other person is correct. There is a pattern here.

Val was super fantastic! Great personality/bedside manner. I explained to her that I was coming off 2 horrible dental experiences this year and she took the time to explain everything she was doing and made me feel extremely comfortable in the chair. I hope the rest of the staff I encounter in upcoming visits (dentist, hygienist) are the same.

A very positive staff. Understanding a nervous patient. Val who took X-ray did an awesome job. Had help completing paperwork because of tremors in my hand. All good. Glad I was referred to this office

Unprofessional scheduling- constantly change appts made in advance and don’t even offer you a choice. They reschedule and just leave emails or voicemails stating the appt has been changed. One of the assistants told me “it happens quite often”.
When I finally made it to an initial consult, I waited about 45 mins to an hour in total to be seen and for the after visit billing. To be fair, the receptionist waived the initial consult fee. But then again, I was given a $600+ estimated bill for a cleaning. They included treatments that weren’t recommended or specified by the dentist.
My husband was also charged extra with no specific explanation on his itemized bill. When he went back and questioned it, they refunded it saying it may have been an error. Makes me wonder how many erroneous charges go unchecked!
Has been an absolutely frustrating experience so far. Do not recommend doing business with them

Left me owing hundreds of dollars above what good dental insurance would cover due to treatments and cleaning far above what was necessary or covered by insurance. The office personnel stated that most insurance wouldn’t cover four cleanings a year but they scheduled me anyway. I have no serious dental problems that would require this many cleaning.

Everyone on the staff is highly professional. I was very pleased to meet Norma, the new hygienist. And, of course, Dr. Wahidi is outstanding in every way you could hope a dentist would be
