This guy did two large bridges for me. The first one broke almost immediately upon completion. I returned and he blamed me grinding my teeth and tried to sell me a mouth guard. (I have never grinded my teeth in my life.) At this point he tells me I'm too hard on my teeth and he would need to do stainless steel bridges. I got over the cosmetic aspect of having a mouth full of metal as a trade off to be able to chew again and paid additional money for the stainless bridge as well as a stainless bridge on the other side. Here we are a few months later and the one stainless bridge broke and fell out (stress crack because it was loose from not being installed properly) and the other bridge is loose. I booked a visit to give him a 3rd chance at fixing this for me but he chose to yell at me and blame my "bite". (Isn't it his job to adjust my teeth for bite? If not why did he grind my bridge and good teeth for almost an hour to make them fit?)

I have been messing with this joker and not able to eat right for over a year!

SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE OF HAVING TO SUE THIS GUY TO GET YOUR MOUTH RIGHT. Just go somewhere else instead.

Side note, Dr. Steve Pfeinstein fixed me up right and I have not had a problem for over two years now. If looking for a good dentist, go see Dr Steve in Abita.

Dr. Ilawan came highly recommended by a friend and was a choice on our new dental insurance plan. I found that the office staff, dental assistants/hygienist and Dr. Ilwan, himself were friendly and professional. The office environment was clean and attractive and the exam rooms were comfortable and well equipped. His demeanor is always very personable, and he is generous with his time as well as being skillful at the complex procedures performed, all done without any discomfort, and for the six month cleaning/evaluation gets you in-and-out quick, all at a great price. Giving one star only because no stars was not an option. This is a dishonest practice ran by a dishonest man and an unprofessional office manager. My wife worked for the office, and we spent Thanksgiving at his home. I needed a routine checkup and he offered to do the checkup at no charge. I even had insurance but he said it wasnt necessary. A year later, I recieve a notification from collections stating that I owed his office money. I called the office and the office manager thought it was humorous that I was sent to collections and said that llawan refused to speak with me. He did the same to my wife after she stopped working for him and her checkup was included in her work benefits. Sudden outbursts of anger and shouting are common inside the business. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else. I figured him for a good man at first, but his true colors appeared with time.

Lisa was the wonderful person who cleaned and did xrays of my teeth. She was gentle, as xrays are typically painful for me due to torai (not sure how to spell that). If possible, I would give her five stars, Thank You Lisa, you are wonderful!! Unfortunately, the reason for my visit was not only for a cleaning, but due to a piece of tooth that had broken off the previous day. My hope was to get something done about the tooth that was bothering me. However, Dr. Ilawan insisted that the reason the tooth broke was due to my history of teeth grinding, and did not believe me when I explained I had stopped grinding my teeth 15-20 years ago. His recommended solution was for me to purchase a mouth guard which would cost approx $500. I am absolutely certain I no longer grind my teeth, I did not purchase the mouth guard, and I still have a broken tooth. I'm not a happy customer, and doubt I will return. Health care providers should listen to their patients!

Went there yesterday and had a very bad experience. Brought my girlfriend in to have extractions done. I could hear her screaming in pain in the back, so I asked the nurse if she was okay. (If it was too much pain I would have requested she get oral surgery to be easier). The nurse asked me if I would like to go back and see her. I said okay. Upon getting within 10+ ft of the room, the Dr. Iliwan yelled at me and told me to get back in the lobby. The nurse and I looked at each other, completely baffled at his response. He yelled at me again, several times before I could even move. I told him to not be so disrespectful, then I went back to the lobby. After a couple of minutes I asked the receptionist if I could pay. Dr. Iliwan stopped in the middle of the procedure to come yell at me over the counter at the top of his lungs! Needless to say he got an earful from me and I left. I've never been so insulted in my life. I will never go back nor would I ever recommend someone go here. There are so many great dentists on the Northshore, let's let this guy know we don't tolerate nastiness up here. Thank you all for reading this.
