Over the past week I have experienced a very disgusting case of medical bias from not only the er staff but nurses who cared for me after my surgery.
On Thursday, I started having a burning sensation underneath my rib cage, which escalated into my vomiting for hours. The burning sensation started to work its way through my digestive track down to my belly button. The burning and ripping feeling I was experiencing started to hurt so immensely after three hours I knew that something was severely wrong. I ended up needing to take an ambulance to the ER. They kept asking me if I was on drugs, or if I was under the influence to which I repeatedly responded. No, I also told them they could take my blood or urine if they didn’t believe me.
I was given anti-nausea medicine in the ambulance and received no other medical care for another three hours. This was six hours that I had been shaking, rocking back-and-forth to try and self soothe, and throwing up. They ordered a CT scan and found that my appendix needed to be removed, my appendix out also moved underneath my uterus and was pressing against it.
Shortly after they discovered, it was my appendix I was given morphine. This took the edge off, but it did not take away my pain. I finally went in for emergency surgery at three in the morning and didn’t come out until five.
I had a very hard time coming out of the anesthesia. I was repeatedly told by the nurses who are caring for me in my hospital room that usually patients were out the same day, and that I would likely be leaving in the afternoon. At that point, I still need assistance to get out of the hospital bed to use the restroom and was still being given morphine for my pain. I repeatedly felt like the nurses did not believe me when I was reading my pain on a scale of 1 to 10.
I also repeatedly felt like they did not believe that I deserve to be there. I ended up needing to stay until the morning, but this was after one of the nurses had kept telling me that if I stayed past midnight, my insurance might not cover it so I felt pressured to find a ride and to get myself ready to leave even though I did not feel like my pain was under control.
The next morning when I was getting ready to leave, I asked one of the nurses if I could have an ice pack on my way out the door because I only had ice packs that we’re for lunch is at home and I would need a soft one for my recovery. She told me “ well that means I’m going to have to stop and get one for you” I said I understand that, but I really feel like I could use on at home. She then said “ well, I’m gonna have to put ice in it”
I said you don’t have to do that. I just want one to bring home please she then we’ll be over to the nurses station and did not even bring me to a complete stop before she let go of the handles and I continue to roll away from her. I was absolutely disgusted by the way that I was being treated.
Fast forward to today, I called and asked my doctor if I could have two or three more pain pills to help me get through another day of recovery while I care for my autistic child that requires a lot of extra attention and assistance from me.
I was told no because of fear that I would “become addicted” and that I should try Tylenol and ibuprofen inside without even asking me if I had already been attempting that treatment on my own.
I wasn’t asking for an entire script refill just another day or two so I can continue to recover without being in pain like my insides are pulling on each other.
I am absolutely disgusted with the care that I received from the second. I saw it help to my attempt to recover at home. Their entire system needs a serious rework and I hope that some of these people take a long look at their careers and think about if this is the right job for them. I am just one person, but the kindness and compassion from your medical team. When you were at your most vulnerable can make the world of a difference.
I will pause to add, My recovery nurse was wonderful, and I will be sure to put in a good word for her to her superiors.

I was there a few weeks ago for a major surgery and the staff were amazing the caregivers were so sweet and understanding, the nurses operated with compassion and kindness. The chaplain was even considerate and non judgmental. The nurse student that cared for me was so professional. I would rate ten stars if I could .

Took my daughter into the ER early this morning for the first time. She was running an fell into her toy kitchen splitting her head open a bit. Our daughter has level 3 autism and the staff and doctors were absolutely wonderful and patient. They took her in withing 5 minutes and she even left with a light up sensory toy. Went in to the ER for a swollen Uvula early August. $1,500 just to walk in the door. Doctor spent all of a minute looking at my situation and had the nurse give me a $115 steroid shot. Also a swab to test 17 different potential causes $1,500. All said and done almost $4000 for an hour there, and the bills just keep on arriving. HUGE MONEY GRAB GO TO YOUR PRIMARY CARE URGENT CARE STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.

In my opinion they are compassionate. The Most of the ER Doctors are very kind and do everything they can to treat your issue. Nurse's are excellent and very polite.

I have PTSD and was experiencing withdrawals from my medication. I was put in a back room with only a chair. I sat on the floor holding a trash can puking. Then I laid on the floor because I had no where else to go. The doctor argued with me and treated me like is was an idiot and left me laying on the floor. The nurse came in, gave me something to help with the puking, as I am still sitting on the floor, then handed me my discharge papers, and she left. No one ever came back except the lady trying to check me in.

I went into an appointment n the doc had me go down to lab n have blood draw. So I go to lab check in get called back and go in room n guess the gentleman had for got something n walked out. So I go to sit in the blood draw chair n look down there is blood drops!!! Ok they are small but nope!! I waited for guy to come back n I told him n he goes oh no I’m sorry I just started my shift I’ll clean it. Which he did very well but yuck!! I do have a picture but don’t know a way to post it.

Saturday night 11:30 pm it started as we were waiting help for my special needs son to simply be looked at after slip and fall that twisted his legs . we kept being pushed back.the nurses did not even come in and check on him after the first hour ..saw them sitting and talking to each other.I asked how long ?a male guy nurse said" the more important patient needing help" How would he know he has not yet been seen !! Stay at ur station sir you know nothing including being akind or comforting nurse.This place should be closed.ok now going on 7.5 hours had to ask repeatedly to how long can an x-ray take? Can my son have something for pain !! You got him on and off that bed 2 time for x-rays but nothing for pain.Turns out Both Legs were FRACTURED!! Poor GUY.They should retired that picture after 5AM and still NO HELP!! Doctor at desk just talking to each other..6 hours in this ER sad experience.
