I had a long conversation over the phone with Dr lane about my son who is in a very difficult position right now and set up an appointment. My mother had used this man for a long time and had a good relationship with him. My son gets there and Dr lane say he won't talk to him until we give him $500. He never mentioned this to me and when I suggested that he do the evaluation and bill me or I could come by to pay later he said no when I asked why he didn't mention that we would have to pay him before the evaluation he just said "it's pretty standard'' I felt betrayed and would not recommend this man to anyone.

My experience with Dr. Lane results from an ADD/chronic low grade depression combo. Thus is not so dire a situation as many face. Yet likely common.
How It Was: Quite some years of positive employment, various self-improvement approaches, letting go of alcohol via A.A., and several peak spiritual experiences encouraged my believing all was well. Yet in my late thirties my grip on this seemed increasingly slippery. I felt a gnawing discomfort, growing, but I could not put my finger on the problem.
What Happened: Hard lessons around my early forties further prompted intense self-research. I discovered a lifetime of symptoms in which I had unknowingly developed a 'coping' life-style that to me seemingly worked fairly well... till about mid-life when red flags appeared I could not ignore. Increasingly, questions and doubts regarding uncomfortable situations grew in my mind as a few career and personal-life metaphorical 'blood-lettings' jolted my realization that my personal progress at self-improvement had peaked and was even waning. Though much seemed OK, clearly something was wrong. and elusive. Around that time, Dr. Lane's name had been mentioned during a conversation, once, and I made a mental note of it. However, I did not pick up the phone. Rather, I continued to deny and procrastinate thru increasingly clear symptoms for a couple more years, into my forties, as the waters became startlingly more turbulent around me. That was when the strange horrible pain of depression gripped me to point of something like recurring near-paralytic(emotional & actionable) dysfunction. Only then did I look over to the telephone with enough desperation to pick it up and Make The Call to Dr Lane. He listened, encouraged me and soon I arrived to at our first appointment. A few appointments and couple months later while walking a San Clemente beach on a quiet morning I looked up from pondering the swirling surf at at my feet to a lone stranger passing opposite. As our gaze met a spontaneous smile spread across our faces so big, deep and genuine it made a lifelong impression on me. For no other reason than that the day was so beautiful and the mutual recognition it so immediate, somehow, it seemed a small miracle. That smile, though such a simple thing, seemed like the freshest dawn I could remember. How long had it been since sharing such unassuming totally genuine smile? As we passed I recognized my life had turned to a much better heading. Of course, other aspects had improved also, inside me, and thus around me.
How It Is Now: Today, as Dr. Lane's alert experience, observance, and kindness continues to help me in this fast-changing new world with its surprising challenges, I am thankful to him, and glad I picked up the phone. Still to this day and many times over the years, my thoughts return to those steps in the shallow swirling water, re-living that instant and spontaneous heartfelt smile, which now stands out as a bright beacon to me. If you have read this far, let it be a beacon for you as well. Dr. Lane's learned, thoughtful guidance is still working for me in my mid-sixties.
If This Resonates Within You: Make the Call. The sooner the better. Best wishes to you. And thank you Dr. Lane.

Where so many other psychiatrists could not make my husband well, after another suicide attempt by giving my husband the wrong medicine, I took my husband out of that care. Again, it was almost too late for him. Our Church gave us Dr. Lewis Lane's name. It was a Holiday weekend, but I called his number. Unbelievable since he was with a group of 'Doctor's' that saw him once a month, failed in the medicines he was on (he was put on a medicine that was meant for only patients 65 and younger. He was possessed with the medicine and behaved so strangely and then found the medicine and overdosed - but who cared in this group, he was just a statistic). I called this recommended doctor, he listened to me and said, I will see your husband tomorrow. What joy that brought and knew he would get well because this Dr., Dr. Lewis Lane said he would. In seven weeks he was well. Dr. Lane saw him walk into the office with a confident walk and he couldnt wait to talk to him. In his office, he drew his chair up to my husband and said , 'Were you in there all this time? I am so glad to meet you.' We all were feeling such joy in this healing and thank Dr. Lane for caring so much. This coming June he will be 90 and has been feeling
so great each day - and thankful. Never give up on hope and when you see a Doctor that does, get to someone that cares about getting you well. Our grateful thanks to Dr. Lane. When we were in his office that day of when healing began, I made a decision to write about our experiences and I did. Life is too precious to give up. God needs you to help others and give them hope. Ruth Lampe

He is kind, funny, insightful and highly intelligent about all psychiatric disorders. He puts you at ease right away. I have seen him for almost ten years through some of my toughest times and would have never wanted anybody else on my side!

Run! Find another Dr. In my experience: Arrogant. Impatient. Quick to judge. Insufficient data and background analysis. Angry. Rude. Dangerously dispenses prescriptions. Not a good listener. Closed-minded. Not trustworthy. $ focused and misleading. No compassion. Really review is zero stars but did not have that option.

Dr Lane is an expert with Anxiety Disorders. Kind and compassionate. He has helped me tremendously with a mixture of Cognitive Therapy and Medication. I did not want to go at first. I called to cancel my first appointment and he called back and told me he could help me. It was up to me but he understood what I was going through. So I went and I'm glad I did. THANK YOU.
