I have a history of blood clots and started Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) with Dr Loomis. She wanted to start me at .05 dose, but my friend had done HRT at .075 and had complications. She told me .05 does was too high and urged me to start and stay at the lowest dose .025.

I went to see Dr Briana Livingston because of another reason…. For annual blood test, Dr. Loomis was coding the labs as DIAGNOSTIC which resulted in me having to pay $100 plus dollars in copay. The second year this happened, my insurance said if she had coded annual or preventive - lab work up is FREE. The second year, she did agree to recode, but Labcorp still keeps sending me bills and I don’t know if issue is resolved yet.

Today I went to see Dr Livingston for the first time. I asked for her opinion about going up to .037 and she said we should NOT without mammogram and blood test to see if I have genetic disposition to blood clots. Was any of this ever raised by Dr. Loomis when she wanted to start me at .05? NOPE.

Also, I've had vaginal dryness related to menopause for two years now. Her solution was HRT. She never suggested coconut oil or estradiol cream. Yesterday, I asked Dr. Livingston for estradiol cream and after just ONE use I feel so much better. Besides complete INDIFFERENCE, no idea why Dr. Loomis didn't offer this simple and inexpensive solution ($10 for .01 potency) two years ago!

Last, her office sometimes double bills. Happened to me and the person who referred me.

I had been s patient for several years before moving out of state. I was still traveling back to see Dr. Loomis and using video visits. Dr. Loomis ordered blood tests for me which were ultimately declined by Medicare as being "not medically necessary '. I spoke to the lab who said they needed the correct codes and let Dr. Loomis's office know. This has been going back and forth between the lab and doctor's office for over a year
Ultimately I was told I needed a letter of medical necessity. I advised the doctor's office and they asked for a fax to send it to. Medicare told me I needed to file an appeal with Medicare and include this letter with the appeal. When I called back to ask to have the letter emailed to me so I could file with my appeal I was told that "Dr. Loomis does not do letters of medical necessity". Without this I am being stuck with a $283 bill that the doctor who ordered the tests won't confirm were medically necessary. If a test isn't medically necessary, why did Dr. Loomis order them ? I am extremely upset and disappointed. A doctor who orders tests should be required to support the patient by confirming to insurance why they were medically necessary, or they shouldn't have ordered them. In the very least the doctor should have advised me prior to ordering the tests that they potentially were not medically necessary. I had placed my faith in Dr. Loomis for a long time but will no longer travel to California to see her as my trust in her has been significantly damaged. I feel like since I'm no longer around the corner and seeing her several times a year or regularly purchasing
supplements from her office that it is apparently no longer important to support me as a patient.
Very disappointed !
