Dr. David was my sons Dentist since we started there. I originally had nothing but positive feedback. I felt like he was professional and great with children. My son has ASD and can be a little difficult at times, but he always seemed to feel comfortable there and the Dr. seemed to work well with him! Until our recent visit. My son needed his X-rays of his teeth taken. This has always been a difficult task. IN reality it was always difficult for me as a child and I know has been difficult for many other children and adults I’ve spoke with! The Dr. was unaware that I had been standing behind him with my infant child during the X-rays. I knew my son could be difficult so I wanted to be around to intervene if necessary. My son was visibly uncomfortable and begun to gag and choke. They tried the X-rays once then went for a second time because they couldn’t get them. Once he put the plates in his mouth he began to gag and choke again which led to him crying a little. Dr. David then took his right hand and shoved my sons head to the side of the chair while yelling at him in a very angry intimidating voice to “STOP IT!” I of course witnessed the incident and immediately yelled st him to stop and that he couldn’t do that!! I removed my child from the seat and we left. Dr. David followed behind trying to explain his actions and blame my son, but eventually after me telling him he’s not allowed to do that, said “you’re right that shouldn’t have happened.” I have since filed a complaint and am still waiting to hear back from the board of dentistry on it. For any parent thinking about taking their child to Dr. David, just be aware that if you have a not so perfectly compliant child this could happen to you.
