I have experienced that Dr.Carr and his staff are the most caring and kind people. Dr.Carr is not one to give up. He does everything possible he can to help remedy the patients problem. My problem was one he had never come across. But that didn't stop him from trying. I feel Dr.Carr and staff did their best to help me. My journey continues at UCSF for the little bit that just wouldn't heal. I feel anyone who goes to Dr.Carr and his staff will get the best care they could get. I am thankful for all they have done.

My daughter had her wisdom teeth removed and she was very nervous about it. Dr. Carr and staff were so comforting and caring. Straight forward and we knew exactly what to expect going into the procedure. Loved that the Dr. personally called later that day to check on her as well. Highly recommend them.

My daughter was referred to Doctor Carr by her orthodontist. I brought her to an appointment for a possible wisdom teeth extraction. When he entered the room to examine my daughter, he never said high or introduced himself. I thought that was odd and unprofessiona, but I didn’t pay it much mind. He advised me that she has 3 teeth that need to be extracted, and possibly a fourth, and needed to do additional x-rays. I was told it was $200 due immediately for him to conduct the additional images. I then inquired about if my daughter could receive nitrous, instead of intubating her. He said he would never do that procedure with nitrous. I shared with him that myself and other child had our teeth pulled with nitrous, & that’s why I was asking about that option. I advised him that I wanted to hold off on the x-ray for now, and wanted to consult with my daughter’s mother, and do some research. I coparent and consult with my kids mother before I make any medical decisions for our child. He told me that when I’m ready I can call the number on the slip he gave me, and make an appointment. I thanked him for his time and left his office. After doing research and consulting with my kids mother, we opted to move forward with our daughters treatment plan. I called his office to make a follow-up appointment, and I was told that my child’s mother would need to bring her in and I wasn’t welcome. I treated this guy with nothing but respect, and asked some questions, so I could be well informed, and advocate for my child. As a African American I have experience RACISM, and dealt with people like Doctor Carr in the past. Some people assume we are a threat, aggressive, and dangerous. I’m just a hard working dad trying to take care of my child. This was completely uncalled for, unprofessional, judgmental, and completely unacceptable! I will never take my child to his office, and tell all of my friends / family to seek dental care elsewhere. He has no right to humiliate me and treat me poorly. I also have our interaction recorded, and at no time was I ever disrespectful, rude, or anything. It’s sad we have people like this in our community operating as so called professionals. I will be posting our conversation online so everyone can see this guy is out of line.
