He removed an implant while I was on medication for osteoporosis (which I noted on my new patient application) and I ended up with osteonecrosis which made my jaw begin to die and deteriorate. Dr. May was able to treat my jaw with laser therapy and medication, he removed the large pieces of decayed bone and enable my jaw to repair itself. I tried to explain this to Dr. D, but he didn’t understand. Be weary of him, he’s not knowledgeable.

I haven’t been to the dentist in over 10+. Very clean office, and can get pretty busy. Friendly staff from front desk to the girls in the back. Dr. D was very welcoming , soft spoken and very honest. If you have a fear of the dentist this is the office to come to. Staff speaks English and Spanish. They have good music playing in the background. Overall a great experience and first time back .

I had a wonderful experience at sunshine dental! Had a crown and an implant, Fits and feels great! No pain at all. Best prices in town! Great atmosphere staff is awesome and friendly! Dr D is down to earth and has a great chairside manor.
This will be my dentist forever, highly recommend this place!

I came here for an emergency visit. I'll start by saying I live in Portland, Oregon; work for a major airline that gives me flight benefits, and will now fly here for my own future dental needs. I was in Valle Vista on vacation, visiting my partners family. He woke me up, basically in tears, wanting Orajel. I went to the store, and when I came back, he decided we needed an emergency dental visit. Hearing that stressed me out financially. We first drove to a fancy looking dental office, and was told the wait for the emergency visit would be about 2.5 to 3 hours. (That's a long time for someone with intense tooth pain)

I called Sunshine dental, and got placed on hold, having to listen to horrible music. (It reminded me of circus music that played on a 10 second loop) After waiting 5 minutes, the friendly receptionist answered said there was practically no wait; we would just need to complete paperwork first. We got there in 5 minutes, did paperwork, and maybe waited 20-30 minutes before being taken back. Partner doesn't start his new job for a few more weeks, so we had no insurance for him. The tooth causing him issues had lost it's filling, and became so infected, it couldn't be saved. Infection had spread to the nerves in the root. I was expecting them to say they would want at least $1,000 for the x-ray, consultation, numbing injection, and tooth extraction. I was pleasantly surprised when they asked for $360. The dentist was compassionate and professional, with VERY quick and minimal pain. They recommended we wait about two months for gums to heal, before coming back for an implant. They wrote prescriptions for pain meds and antibiotics. Took that to Walmart a few miles up the road, and spent less than $20. We left Walmart with the prescriptions in less time than we would have waited at the first dentist office.

I've been to Portland area dental offices that give off a fancier feel for three times the costs, and I walk out feeling like the service was subpar. This is an office that may appear like a discount box store plastic wedding ring, but is secretly a high valued rare diamond. We will be visiting this summer for his follow-up on the implant, plus my own preventative dental care.

had work done at sunshine and had a great experience. one of them is a bridge and implants was great and painless. doctor was very detailed about my treatment and gave me multiple options for treatment plan with no pressure i chose what i wanted and i am very happy of the results. its been about a year since my treatment was done and very happy.

I am extremely afraid of going to the dentist. Last week, I started having horrible pain in my lower jaw. I searched the reviews and decided I was going to go here. I do not have dental insurance and they still accepted me. Upon examination, the Doc decided, I needed antibiotics and one for sure root canal possibly another. I went to my second appointment today and it turns out I only needed the one root canal and a replacement bridge. He was awesome. I have never felt so comfortable in a dental office in my entire 42 years of existence. This office has amazing staff and an amazing Dentist. Very patient and caring. They all made me feel so comfortable and at peace. I will not go any where else from now on. Thank you so very much Sunshine Dental. I appreciate your entire team.

Dr. D is hands down the best dentist to ever live!!! I have severe Dentophobia to the point of tearing up at the thought of going to the dentist. I went in for a deep cleaning and some cavities which were all done without any numbing and I felt absolutely NO PAIN!!! Dr. D is the most kind and caring person who will without a doubt squelch your fears of the dentist. If I could I would leave a billion star review as he has literally changed my perspective in going to the dentist. Most importantly, he gave me my smile back and I could not be more grateful to have a dentist like Dr.D.
If you are trying to choose a dentist to visit, you will not regret going to Sunshine Dental. =)
Edit: The nurses are also very supportive and caring as well. I feel as though I did not thank them as much as I should have. Even if you didn't like your teeth (you will) like me, they will comfort you and reassure you that your situation will/can be fixed. 10000/10000 would recommend to anyone that has any fear of the dentist as Dr. D and the nurses will banish those fears into oblivion!!!
Update as of April 24, 2024
Today Pelra did an outstanding and thorough teeth cleaning for me. I felt so relaxed the whole time I could have taken a nap if it wasn't such a quick procedure. Dr. D also took care of cavity I happened to have in a minute without novacaine. I went in for a simple teeth cleaning but got more than that. I got a magical dentist who genuinely cares for all of his patients and has the nicest staff around. Your missing out if you don't go here for any dental work you need.
