Ting orthodontics has changed my life! I am a general dentist in Kansas who has struggled with nasal breathing, open mouth posture, and snoring for most of my life. After a lot of research, I decided to do the MARPE expander to see if it would help with my orthodontics relapse and the symptoms listed above. After 6mo of turning the appliance slowly, I was able to expand 8mm and my symptoms have greatly improved. The procedure was a breeze with Dr. Ting. He is incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and made me feel at ease even after the procedure was completed. If you are on the fence about having this procedure done-do it! It is the best thing you will ever do for yourself and your overall health. Thank you Dr Ting!

Personal History: I never had braces growing up. I rarely smiled in photos due to the insecurities that had developed around my wonky smile. Due to teeth issues in my late 20's, I began my orthodontic odyssey. In 2021, my dentist informed me that I was experiencing severe gum recession and crowding, which resulted in frequent cavities. She recommended Dr. Ting and the rest is history! At the consultation, Dr. Ting pointed out some key issues and answered questions thoroughly. Unbeknownst to me, I had been living my whole life with an extremely narrow, domed upper palate, in addition to the visible crowding and crossbite I knew I had. Together, we realized that my plate deformity could have contributed to the lifelong issues I have had with post-nasal drip and sinus infections. I also have a physical disability, which factors heavily into my choices as a patient. From the start, I knew Dr. Ting's approach would match my needs well.

Treatment: I began with the MSE in June of 2022. The installation was painless! Though I had difficulty speaking for the first week, along with tongue pain, the changes happened rapidly. I later received bite turbos, inner back molar brackets with bands, and a lower quad helix (in my opinion, this is the worst part because it sits under the tongue). Thankfully I only had the helix for a couple of weeks. Lastly, I had traditional metal braces put on in February of 2023. I opted for braces over Invisalign because it fit with my busy lifestyle. Though I had hoped to have them off by June 2024 (in time for my 30th birthday), I am happy that I waited a bit longer because my teeth are looking incredible! I just got the braces off yesterday and was fitted for a retainer today. I still surprise myself and do a double-take when I pass a mirror because I can't believe these are my teeth!

Experience: Overall, I enjoyed working with Dr. Ting and his team so much that it made my long commute there from North Orange County worthwhile. The building is ADA accessible and clean, and the entire Ting team were very accommodating of my disability. The folks at the front desk and Marianne were always pleasant, and there were always cookies at the front desk and Disney movies playing in the background to complete the ambience. Even though there were times when there were more children patients than adults (sitting between schoolchildren as a 30-year-old) is always funny, I saw plenty of older adults receiving treatment as well, so I didn't feel out of place. Every member of the team was also patient with me and incredible gracious about my scheduling difficulties (I work multiple jobs).

Overall, I would go the entire journey again in a heartbeat and I recommend that anyone with similar issues give them a try.

My husband found Dr. Ting through our general DDS. He had full jaw surgery and expander. Boy, he looked rough when I picked him up from the surgical center. After he got his Invisalign completed, he was very pleased with his teeth. This was important to
my husband so he really took time to research the procedure and Dr. Ting. He was so pleased with Dr. Ting's work that we had our then 8 yo undergo expanders and Invisalign a year after. She is now 10, and wearing retainers. I was vehemently opposed to having her go through the expanders at such a young age, but after consulting my friend who is a dentist, trusted the process and Dr. Ting. Her teeth look great. So we now have sister doing the expander to be followed with the Invisalign. We highly recommend Dr. Ting. The entire staff is patient and forgiving about mis-scheduling of appts. The ladies are wonderful, Waiting room is spacious, movies playing Wi-Fi and fresh baked cookies.

I had my treatment here for 2+years and I had a great experience! Unfortunately my treatment began right when COVID hit and despite lockdown, Dr Ting and his staff were always available via telephone for both urgent and non-urgent questions/concerns. The office is always clean which is very important to me as well. I am very pleased with my new smile! I know when it comes to selecting a dentist/orthodontist we often want to select the best and be cautious, and this is the place to choose!

I would not recommend Dr. Ting. He’s very arrogant and money hungry. After agreeing to pay him $20,000 for treatment, he threatened to discontinue for asking a few simple questions. All that aside, he also installed my MARPE incorrectly causing major problems including a cheek fracture, blurred vision, among other problems. Then, when his treatment fell short, he started recommending numerous other highly invasive and expensive procedures.

I bought into the hype that he was a leading expert and all these things, but this is my actual experience, and they couldn’t care less. Because they’re all about the money and ego. He’s supposedly an airway specialist, but doesn’t even measure or look at the airway before or after expansion? What a sham.

MARPE Is becoming fairly common among orthodontist. I would highly recommend seeking treatment elsewhere. Ting will milk you for all he can.

*Yes, the maxilla expanded, but with numerous complications due to Ting’s negligence. Dr. Ting has zero empathy or concern. He only cares about money.

This review is long overdo. Dr. Ting and his staff are wonderful. His office is unlike any other I’ve been to and my kids actually love going for the video game console, not only in the waiting room, but in each chair as you’re getting worked on. My kids also love that the office often puts out freshly baked cookies. The staff always remembers who we are and genuinely seems happy to see us and hear what’s new with my boys. Once in the chair, Dr. Ting’s warm and humorous personality puts them right at ease. What I especially love about Dr. Ting is his expertise in his field and integrity. I truly feel like he has our best interests at heart, and I can’t believe my family and I actually look forward to going to the dentist now!

We highly recommend Dr. Ting and his very caring and pleasant office staff. Dr. Ting is top notch the best and most knowledgeable orthodontist we have found. He is at the forefront of airway orthodontia and we feel blessed to have been referred to him to take care of our children’s airway needs. His staff is amazingly kind and patient and we truly appreciate all they do for us.
